Zoo Animals Day
My name is Rachel from Music Minors and I'm based in Shropshire. Today I am joined by my daughter Matilda and we are going to be learning all about zoo animals. I will be teaching you some new songs and we will be getting creative too!
9.30am Activity:
Build a Zoo
In this activity you will create your own zoo using blocks, lego or playdough.
Grown Ups:
Let the children use their imagination and look after their own zoo animals. If you have access to your own small play animals you can use those or feel free to use the cut outs. Let the children explore the zoo, come up with ideas of how to feed the animals and how they will look after them. Follow Rachel and Matilda in this activity and become zookeepers! This supports children’s knowledge and understanding of the world and their language and develops their communication.
10.30am Activity:
Make a Zoo Animal Mask
In this activity let the children choose which zoo animal they'd like to colour in.
Grown Ups:
Follow Rachel’s instructions and have fun letting them be creative. They can use colouring pencils, pens or paints. See if you can help them cut out the mask and add a straw to hold it up to their face. This activity supports children’s creativity and knowledge and understanding of animals.
1:30pm Activity:
I Went to Visit a Zoo Today
You can use your mask that you've already made for this activity. This is a song for you to learn and join in.
Grown Ups:
Rachel and Matilda teach you the animal noises and you can have fun with the different animals at the zoo. This supports children’s expressive arts and design. It also supports their knowledge and understanding of the world.

This is a great song to help with children’s coordination and to help them follow instructions. The children will have great fun watching Rachel and following her dance moves. Right, left, right leg, left leg, nodding your head and turning around. This may be a familiar song to some, enjoy it and have fun.You are now a fully fledged penguin! This supports children’s expressive arts and design and physical development.
