St. George's Day
Hello children I'm Jude, and I'm an author and storyteller. Lamby and Flossie are my storytelling mascots. Today we are going to celebrate St. George's Day with you. There will be some stories, craft, dancing and eating. We hope you have fun.
You might like to dress up in red and white for the day like we have.
Brave St. George
Jude and Lamby re-tell the story of brave St. George.
Encourage your child to listen to the story and join in with any actions. Talk about St. George and how he is a special saint for England. Do you do anything special for St. George's Day in your family?

Making Bunting
Bunting is a kind of decoration we use for special occasions. We're going to make some using the St. George cross which is on the England flag.
You will need -
White paper
Red felts, crayons or paint.
String
Scissors
Tape

Morris Dancing
We can all have fun trying Morris Dancing.
You will need -
Ankle or wrist bells (if you have any)
White paper hankies or napkins.
Have fun trying Morris Dancing with your child.
Use language such as - dance, Morris Dancing, move, bells, hankies, tradition, celebration.
This develops - Physical, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts skills.
Afternoon Tea
Having Afternoon Tea is a very English thing to do. Can you have your own Afternoon Tea? You can use play food and cups and saucers or real ones. Or you could use a special mug and plate for your sandwich and drink.
Recreate an Afternoon Tea with your child. You can use a play tea set and food or use real ones. Talk about it being a special treat.
Use language such as - Afternoon Tea, special, treat, sandwiches, teapot, cups, saucers.
This develops - Communication and Language, PSED, Understanding the World and Maths skills.
