Tell a Fairy Tale Day
Hello children, I'm Jude and I'm an author and storyteller. Lamby and Flossie are my storytelling mascots with Little Lamb Tales. Today we are very excited as it's Tell a Fairy Tale Day! We're going to tell two fairy tales, sing a song and make some props. Come and join the fun.
Sleeping Beauty
Listen to the story of Sleeping Beauty
Encourage your child to listen to the story and join in with relevant actions. I've attached a picture of a spinning wheel for you to show your child. Use language such as long ago, fairy tale, princess, king, queen, castle, prince, sleep.
This develops Communication & Language and Understanding the World skills.
There Was a Princess Long Ago
This is the song that goes with the story. You might already know it. You can join in with the words and actions. You could even use some of your own toys and props to help with the song.

Puss in Boots
Now we're going to tell you the tale of Puss in Boots.
Encourage your child to listen to the story and join in with any relevant actions. Discuss the story with them.
Use language such as - fairy tale, long ago, character names, traditional tale.
Develops - Communication & Literacy and Understanding the World Skills.
Making Ears and a Tail
We're going to have a go at making our own cat ears and cat tail using things you may have in your space. You might need a grown up to help you.
You will need -
cellotape or double sided tape.
a stapler
scissors
Card or paper
A pair of tights - any colour
Old newspaper or scrunched up paper
Help your child (if needed) to make a simple cats tail using tights and paper. Then encourage them to make a cat ears headband. You may need to help with scissor skills and with the stapler. Encourage them to do as much of it themselves as possible.
Use language such as - staple, stapler, cut, scissors, tights. stuff, headband, make, stick, costume.
Develops - Physical, PSED and Expressive Arts skills.
Extension
1. Talk about the two stories you've heard today. Which one was your child's favourite and why? Which one was your favourite and why?
2. Tell each other or read your favourite Fairy Tales.
